ETAP’s Automation Division is currently looking for smart and motivated Entry Level Automation & Controls engineer focused on Electrical Microgrid/PPC Engineer to test and deliver our leading power plant controller/ microgrid controller projects.

The Engineer will work across a variety of functional groups that are directly involved in engineering, product development, implementation, and international partners project support.

The ideal candidate is an inventive problem solver that is capable of working through technical challenges and employing pragmatic solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team that provides integrated solutions to meet our clients’ needs across the globe.

Responsibilities – You will do:

  • Support development department with product design and testing

  • Work on Micro Grid and Power Plant Controller projects from inception to completion

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including SCADA engineering, power studies and IT to ensure successful project execution.

  • Provide quality assurance for ongoing projects

  • Build and configure ETAP model to include controller functionality

  • Run software-in-loop simulation to test functionality of controller, as well as verifying the grid code compliance against local grid code

  • Run hardware-in-loop simulation to verify functionality when connecting to ETAP controller hardware

  • Support project plans and meet with ETAP project clients and outline project details including scope, objectives and deliverables

  • Commissioning, functional testing, troubleshooting and diagnosis issues related to power plant controller/ microgrid controller.

Qualifications – You will have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, focusing on power system analysis

  • Strong knowledge of SCADA systems integration (DNP3, IEC-61850)

  • 2+ experience in similar roles

  • English language proficiency – Advanced

  • Have a solid understanding in the following areas:

  • Load flow in power systems

  • Basic PID controller design

  • Inverter-based renewable generation control

  • Transient Stability in power systems/ microgrid

A PLUS:

  • Experience handling microgrid/power plant controller project

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering focused on power system analysis and micro grid controllers

  • Experience in using ETAP to run load flow/ transient stability studies

  • Experience in coding with Python, C#, PLC

  • Experience on power plant control/ microgrid/renewable control related research or study

  • Experience in project delivery
