Director of Software Engineering (Web Security)

A global cybersecurity platform focused on safeguarding you from malicious bots, hacker attacks, and modern online threats.
We are seeking a Director of Software Engineering (Web Security) to lead the development of our next-gen web security and networking solutions. This is a key leadership role for an expert in web traffic filtering, security, and protection—someone who excels at tackling complex security challenges and driving innovation.
This position goes beyond just hands-on engineering; it’s a chance to shape our technology strategy, lead impactful projects, and define how we protect web traffic at scale. You'll collaborate closely with the CTO, influencing architecture, security, and product decisions.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the design and development of our core web security and networking technologies.
- Drive innovation in web traffic filtering, creating new techniques to detect and mitigate modern threats.
- Own the security architecture for high-performance, scalable systems protecting web traffic.
- Develop and optimize integrations for Nginx, Apache, and other key web infrastructure components.
- Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a security-first culture across the team.
- Make strategic decisions on languages, frameworks, and infrastructure, balancing security, performance, and scalability.
What We’re Looking For:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with leadership in security-focused projects.
- Deep expertise in network and web security, including modern cyber threats and mitigation techniques.
- Strong programming skills in at least two of C++, Golang, and PHP.
- Extensive experience with Linux, networking protocols, and web infrastructure.
- Knowledge of cloud and database technologies (SQL, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, Kubernetes).
- A proactive leader who takes ownership and defines what needs to be done.
- A strategic mindset—your decisions go beyond writing code, impacting security at scale.
- Passion for web security and making the internet safer.
- Experience working in remote-first, asynchronous teams with strong communication skills.
What You Won’t Be Doing:
- Fixing legacy code or dealing with technical debt—our focus is on building high-quality, modern security solutions.
- Following a rigid task list—here, you’ll define the roadmap and drive initiatives to push security innovation forward.
- Being a passive executor—this role is for a leader who takes initiative and makes things happen.
